Surgical Procedure

The ingrown toenail procedure is performed by our qualified podiatrist under local anaesthetic.  A local anaesthetic is administered via injection at the base of the affected toe to ensure the area is completely numb.

Once numb, the affected section of nail is carefully removed. The nail matrix (the base of the nail) is then chemically cauterised to prevent regrowth of the problematic portion of the nail, significantly reducing the chance of recurrence.

Following the procedure, the toe will be dressed and bandaged. We recommend wearing open-toed footwear to your appointment to accommodate the dressing and allow adequate airflow.
